The pultrusion process.

In the pultrusion process, the reinforcing fibres and mats (1) are guided into the pultrusion die (2). The resin-impregnated reinforcing fibres enter the heated die where they are cured and pulled evenly out of the die via the haul-off unit (3). Finally, the “travelling saw” (4) cuts the section to the desired size.                        

In the pultrusion process, we can control a wide variety of different
properties of a fibre-reinforced composite section:

  • Mechanical properties, e.g. strength and stiffness
  • Colour and paintability
  • Surface condition
  • Resistance to weathering and UV
  • Geometry
  • Chemical resistance
  • Electrical and thermal insulation
  • Behaviour in fire
